About the presenter:
Dr. Schmidt is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Her clinical practice focuses on adults with pediatric onset disabilities such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and muscular dystrophies. Dr. Haapala is a Clinical Associate Professor in the same department at Dr. Schmidt. Her clinical and research interests focus on the care of adults with cerebral palsy, promoting lifelong health and function and improving the assessment and management of pain in cerebral palsy. This talk will review the role of the physiatrist in helping adults with CP navigate their rehabilitation care. We will review the most common patient complaints and medical issues addressed in the Adult Cerebral Palsy Clinic at the University of Michigan’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
