Wayne State University, in partnership with Save The Music Foundation, is hosting a professional development program for K-12 music teachers focused on electronic music production in the classroom.

WSU and STM share the goal to support public school teachers in new and innovative ways of teaching music in the classroom, inspired by the late musician, songwriter and influential producer J Dilla. After a successful one-day intensive program in 2022, the J Dilla Music Tech Teaching Workshop this summer will be a multi-day experience led by WSU professors of music technology.

Starting on the afternoon of Wednesday, July 12, and concluding on the afternoon of Friday, July 14, educators currently teaching in public Title I schools throughout Metro Detroit with music technology programs, or with plans to develop music technology programs in the future will participate in collaborative workshops focused on teaching electronic music production in the classroom.

In addition to workshops, participants will enjoy networking with fellow educators and hearing from the music industry’s greatest artists and professionals local to Detroit and inspired by J Dilla.

ATTENTION: If you're an educator currently teaching in public Title I schools throughout metro Detroit with music technology programs, or with plans to develop music technology programs in the future, please sign up for the workshop. There is no tuition cost for participants, who will receive credit toward their Professional Development hours, along with a stipend in the form of a gift card upon completion of the program.
