This workshop is intended to introduce non-chemical engineers to some of the basics of chemical engineering, with a process design and optimization focus, before the new school year starts. It is intended to help put the chemical engineering curriculum in perspective for graduate students who may be switching to chemical engineering from a different major or who have been out of school for some amount of time and would like to have a reminder through this workshop of core chemical engineering concepts. Undergraduates who believe that this would help them earlier in their academic career to appreciate where their major is taking them are also welcome to attend, as are incoming students who are undecided on a major and would like to see what chemical engineering prepares students to do.
