MI-UCP presents Cerebral Palsy Virtual Seminar Series
Friday, August 25th at 12:00 PM (Noon)

Title: “ACT for Coping with Common Challenges in CP" presented by Brigid Waldron-Perrine

Brigid Waldron-Perrine is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Division of Rehabilitation Psychology and Neuropsychology, University of Michigan.

This presentation will discuss the ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) processes and how they may be applied with flexibility to meet the specific and unique needs of each individual that is part of the heterogenous population of people with CP. For those affected by cerebral palsy who struggle with day-to-day functioning throughout their lives, components of ACT may be helpful in maximizing positive and adaptive coping while minimizing distress due to ineffective or poorly targeted coping measures.
