ABC Seminar: Proof of Martinis' noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) threshold conjecture in 1D
Speaker: Ryan LaRose (Center for Quantum Computing, Science and Engineering, MSU)
Abstract: John Martinis recently conjectured that quantum computers can be efficiently classically simulated with errors approximately a few percent [1], prompting some results in this area [2]. I'll demonstrate one technique in which we numerically know the conjecture is true for certain circuits. The technique decomposes noisy channels in such a way as to weaken entanglement in a matrix product state.
