Working with and Supporting Transgender Youth
1 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.
The Wayne State University School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education invites child welfare workers, family preservation workers, foster care workers and adoption services to attend one of our specialized child welfare trainings. We are excited to host Rebecca Gerlach, LMSW CAADC for this training titled "Working with and Supporting Transgender Youth".
Trans and gender-questioning youth are an underserved population, and often providers are not given the information and resources needed to work with these youth and their caregivers effectively. This course aims to equip child welfare workers with the tools to better support these youth by providing resources and educating them on risk and protective factors that impact them. By taking this course, you can increase your awareness and ability to help. We will incorporate both group activities and varying-sized discussions throughout the presentation.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Attendees can obtain 3 social work CECH upon completion of the training, payment receipt and passing of the post-training quiz. A CECH certificate will be emailed within 7 - 10 business days after the event.
COST: Free to all MDHHS and private agency child welfare workers; $15 students; $45 all others
All attendees must RSVP for this training. Attendees will receive the Zoom link via email upon completion of the RSVP.
