The Detroit Youth Health Expo will be an annual conference and exhibition that will showcase the possibilities of opportunities and careers in the field of healthcare for Detroit youth. Due to the lack of students in medicine from urban inner cities, specially neglected and marginalized communities, the goal will be to allow Detroit high schoolers to immerse themselves in the exploration of the possibility of seeking a degree in medicine, physician associates, nursing, and other medical adjacent careers. With the exposure to medical pathways and the access to current medical students in training and seasoned physicians, Detroit youth will have the opportunity to better understand not only the careers in medicine that await them but also have guidance and support to help their trajectory of pursuing a career in the field of healthcare.
