Join the College of Education, Learning Design and Technology Program Alumni (formerly IT) for an intimate, private gathering at the Common Pub in Midtown, Detroit. Network with fellow alumni, faculty, and staff and meet current students of the program.

Joining us as guest speakers and alum will be Kelly Harrison, Ph. D and Lisa Toenniges, ME.d. Learn more about Kelly and Lisa below:

Kelly Harrison, Ph. D is the Director, Global Learning and Development at Ford Motor Credit Company (FMCC). In this role, she shapes and supports the learner experience for 7,000 FMCC employees located around the world in dealerships, business centers and central offices. Prior to this, Kelly was the IT (Information Technology) Culture Transformation Lead and IT Learning and Development People Leader at Ford Motor Company. She played a key role in Ford IT’s strategy to transform into a Product Driven Organization, powered by Culture Transformation and people development. Ford currently has 50 facilitators and reached nearly 5000 employees under Kelly’s leadership.

Prior to joining Ford, Kelly worked as a K-12 Technology Integration Specialist where she trained and coached teachers on using technology in their classrooms to support instruction. Kelly earned her Ph.D. from WSU and worked as a Graduate Research Assistant, conducting extensive research in instructional design, learning theories, technology integration, online learning, and social networking. Her research resulted in book chapters, journal articles, research-based presentations, and was honored as WSU’s 2012 Instructional Technology Doctoral Student of the Year. Earning a B.S. in Management Information Systems has fueled Kelly’s IT-focused learning career. She’s been an active member and volunteer in a variety of roles for the Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT).

She is growing her foundation fundraising skills by serving as a Partner Engagement Lead to raise funds to support the many technology driven programs to support women throughout their lives. Her passion for people has landed Kelly on Google’s Platinum Tier #IamRemarkable facilitator list, which builds self-promotion skills for women and underrepresented groups, as well as the leaders who support them.

Lisa Toenniges, ME.d.is the owner and chief executive officer of Innovative Learning Group, a company she founded in March 2004. A dynamic and respected leader, Lisa has more than 30 years of experience in the performance improvement industry and has consulted with many Fortune 1000 companies about their learning and performance strategies and solutions.ILG was born out of Lisa’s passion for building a business, providing for her employees, and doing what is right for clients. Her entrepreneurial spirit, positive outlook, and hands-on leadership style have been the drivers behind ILG’s profitable annual compound growth.Lisa has been a member of the Board of Trustees for On My Own of Michigan since 2018. Currently, she is the Treasurer of the Executive Committee, having served as the Secretary from 2020-2022. Lisa is also a volunteer grant reviewer for Impact100 Oakland County.Lisa has a master’s degree in instructional technology from Wayne State University in Detroit and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Michigan State University.
