Join us for an engaging conversation series about issues that impact ADEI. Wayne State University will explore of “Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in STEMM Organizations: Beyond Broadening Participation,” an exciting new report produced by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.  This thoughtful, well-researched report (to which former WSU President M. Roy Wilson contributed) identifies systemic barriers and offers recommendations on dismantling policies and practices that disadvantages people from minoritized groups in STEMM organizations.  A University Library System group is involving other campus partners in responding to themes and sections of this report’s data and recommendations.

Prior familiarity with the “Advancing ADEI in STEMM” report isn’t necessary to join us in learning and sharing information, although you can read the Library’s e-copy here:  https://elibrary.wayne.edu/record=b7140952~S47 ).

The second session in this series will focus on the challenges and strategies for “Diverse Work Teams.”  We’ll learn about the demands that inter-, multi- and transdisciplinary team membership can present for individuals and strategies for navigating these challenges.  Small group breakout sessions will practice deep listening skills and honoring different ways of knowing that are critical to team success.  We will also introduce the CyberAmbassadors Team Training opportunity for groups on WSU’s campus. Sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the CyberAmbassadors program promotes professional skill development in Communications, Teamwork and Leadership customized for interested audiences.
