Come experience the transformation of the Shiffman Medical Library space into a modern and inspiring hub for learning and collaboration on Jan. 11 from 12 -1 p.m. In addition to the unveiling of new furniture, we are excited to showcase a curated selection of artwork from the University Art Collection. The ongoing collaboration of the University Art Collection and the Library System brings together the collective aspirations of both entities, using art within the library environment as a means to facilitate dialogue and bridge the gap between people and information.
 
Dean Paul Bracke and Shiffman Medical Library Director LaVentra Ellis-Danquah will host the open house while University Art Collection Curator Grace Serra will be present to discuss the newly installed artwork. Light refreshments will be served.
 
This new space was made possible thanks to a nearly $600,000 gift from by former Wayne State professors Dr. Robert Mitchell, School of Medicine, and Dr. Diane Sasaki, department of chemistry, who were active library users that dedicated their lives to educating students in medicine and science.
