Topic: "Hedda Gabler Syndrome: The Origins of the Pre-Partum Suicide Attempt"

Objectives:

Participants, as a result of this session, will be able to:

1.  Identify risk factors for pre-partum suicide.

2.  Analyze the characteristics and patterns of prenatal suicide attempts, including timing, method, uncompleted, or completed.

3.  Describe the long-term effects of pre-partum suicide attempts, including complications for the fetus. 

4.  Discuss the biological and psychodynamic precursors that create the context for a pre-partum suicide attempt.
