The Wayne State University School of Social Work invites faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members to join us for Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention for Children and Adolescents presented by licensed Clinical Psychologist Ellen Barrett-Becker, PhD, LP.

This course will provide empirical information related to protective and risk factors for suicidal thoughts and behaviors in children and youth. Attendees will learn to best-practices in the assessment of suicidal risk with youth. They will build knowledge in determining risk level for suicidal children. Attendees will increase their understanding of evidence-based intervention for suicidal children and adolescents. Best practices in safety planning will be reviewed and practiced. This course will also help attendees understand higher levels of care for suicidal youth, and the referral process for youth if hospitalization or crisis stabilization is necessary.

CONTINUING EDUCATION: Three (3) Social Work CE's are available for attendees for free. Pre-registration for CE's is requested via the RSVP form. All attendees seeking CE's must sign-in vai the chat link and stay for the full duration. Attendees will receive a post-test and/or evaluation at the conclusion of the training.
