Title:  Analysis of Optimal Control and Optimal Design Problems in Peridynamics

Abstract:

In this talk we will discuss two families of problems on peridynamics models: the first is an optimal control problem where the admissible set is governed by a specified relationship between the force applied to a fixed material and the resulting displacement. The second is an optimal design problem where the applied force is fixed and we choose the material that results in a desired displacement. The analytical frameworks for these problems will be dissected and contrasted. We will also discuss the finite element approximation of solutions to the optimal control problem.
