The Wayne State University School of Medicine Office of Faculty Affairs and Professional Development welcomes all members of our community to join us for a special interactive wellness session:
Wellness and Positive Affirmation Meditation
The Office of Faculty Affairs is collaborating with Wayne State University Wellness Coordinator Travis Van Dyke to host an interactive wellness session.
Mobility and Stretching:
Travis will first take the group through various mobility drills that involve dynamic muscle movements. A presentation will be provided with pictures of the movements and Travis will also demonstrate and talk through the movements. Modifications will be provided for those who may struggle with the movements. After the dynamic mobility movements, Travis will take the group through some light static stretching. This will involve holding these stretches for 15-20 seconds and aiming for only slight discomfort and without pain.
Disclaimer **Every person should consult their physician before starting any exercise program.**
Positive Affirmation Meditation:
Travis will then take the group through a guided meditation session for 15-20 minutes. This guided meditation will focus on positive affirmations and being kind to yourself. The goal of the meditation is to reach a calm and relaxed state to There will also be deep breathing included in the meditation. The meditation will also include relaxing sounds being played over the speaker to block out any outside noise and to provide a relaxing environment for the group.
