Catch A Star: How modern astronomers find exciting phenomena

Join Professor Tonima Ananna(WSU Physcs & Astronomy) as she shares the latest in astronomical technology with us.  Modern astronomers use satellites, gravitation interferometers and much more.  See how our tools have changed in the last 100 years and what they allow us to study that we could not do before!

Dr. Tonima Ananna is Assistant Professor of Physics and Astronomy.  Prior to joining the department last year, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Dartmouth College.  She received her PhD at Yale University.  Dr. Ananna studies Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) in the X-Ray wavelength.  Here at Wayne State she teaches courses including Life in the Universe and Descriptive Astronomy.

Sciences & Humanities Under the Dome is a free public lecture series supported by the Rita & Stanley Levy & Ratna & Vaman Naik Endowment. We welcome all members of the community to join us in the planetarium for these research lectures!

Light refreshments will be provided prior to the lecture. Doors open at 5:30pm.
