Wayne State University School of Medicine 2024 Reach Out To Youth
8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
ROTY, now in its 34th year, is a student-led initiative hosted by the Black Medical Student Association (BMA) and the Student National Medical Association (SNMA). This educational event, held in Detroit, targets youth aged 7-11 and introduces them to the world of medicine and science. With a dedicated focus on Detroit area students, ROTY promotes diversity and equal access to healthcare and education.
-Program Registration (7:45 AM - 8:45 AM): Participants arrive and register for the program.
-Welcome 9AM: WSU SOM Administration/Dean/President Welcome TBD
- Interactive Workshops for Children (9:00 AM - 12:15 AM):Children dive into hands-on workshops and activities led by medical students and faculty, exploring various aspects of medicine and science.
- Concurrent Parent Workshop (9:15 AM - 11:45 AM):Concurrently, parents attend informative workshops designed to provide support, guidance, and insights into preparing their children for careers in medicine and promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Lunch (12:15 AM - 12:50 AM): A Pizza lunch.
- Closing Remarks and Future Aspirations (12:50 PM - 1 PM):The event concludes with a motivational wrap-up, encouraging young participants to pursue their dreams in healthcare and science.
