Elevate Their Voices
4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Association for Black Social Workers' student organization at the Wayne State University School of Social Work is proud to present its annual "Elevate Their Voices" event in celebration of Black History Month. This year's event will explore human trafficking and feature the inspiring story of native Detroiter Sabrina Banks, whose experiences with sexual violence and trauma have motivated her to break generational cycles of violence and bring hope to trauma survivors worldwide.
Since 2018, Banks has served as CEO of Uplifted and Free, LLC, an organization she founded to facilitate awareness and advocacy outreach to individuals facing mental and traumatic challenges. Banks earned her Bachelor's in Social Work from Wayne State University and will receive her Master of Social Work in 2025 from the university. Bank's story was featured in the 2023 documentary "Restoration".
