NASW-MI Social Work 2025 Capital Action Day
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Social workers and mental health professionals, it’s time to make your voices heard!
Capitol Action Day is NASW-Michigan’s annual advocacy event where social workers come together to advocate for policies that strengthen communities and the profession. This event provides an opportunity to discuss critical issues, including the social work licensing exam, mental health delivery systems, and policies that directly impact social workers and the individuals they serve.
Attendees will participate in:
- Legislative meetings or canvassing to voice concerns and discuss proposed solutions.
- Discussions on improving licensing processes, expanding the mental health workforce, and addressing barriers to equitable service delivery.
- Opportunities to learn how advocacy directly influences legislative decisions and policy outcomes.
Special Information for Wayne State Social Work Students: The Wayne State School of Social Work encourages students to participate and will cover the cost of attendance for the first 150 students who complete the RSVP. Students planning to attend should complete the WSU RSVP form by no later than Sunday, March 2, 2025. Please do not register directly with NASW-MI; WSU will submit a group registration to NASW-MI with the names of all attendees. Costs for students range from $30-$45, but WSU will cover this cost for the first 150 RSVPs. Once the RSVP cap is reached, registration will close.
This RSVP process helps WSU gauge the number of students attending the event and coordinate participation. We will be reaching out to all who complete the WSU RSVP form with additional details.
