Beyond Barriers- AI and Social Justice: Ensuring Equity in Technology

The School of Information Sciences is hosting its second Beyond Barriers: Conversations on Equity in Information Conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
The topic of this virtual one-day conference is AI and Social Justice: Ensuring Equity in Technology and will feature guest speakers and student and alumni presentations. All current SIS students and 2024 SIS graduates (Winter, Spring/Summer, and Fall) are encouraged to submit relevant projects to present their work during the mini conference. Individual submissions are acceptable and group submissions will be considered. We are looking to feature at least four projects.
Projects may focus on any aspect of AI, technology, and social justice and may take the following formats: research paper, presentation, literature review, website, database, oral history collection, metadata project and more. Projects will be presented during the conference via PowerPoint presentation, Google Slides, or other comparable presentation software. Creative entries are encouraged.
SIS students and alumni whose projects are accepted will be awarded $300.
