This year’s Beyond Barriers: Conversations on Equity in Information Conference brings together librarians, technologists, advocates, and community leaders to explore the critical intersection of artificial intelligence, libraries, and social justice. As technology continues to evolve, it is essential to ensure that libraries remain spaces of equity, inclusion, and opportunity.

Attendees will dive into how AI can be leveraged in libraries to enhance access to information, while also addressing the ethical implications of AI systems that could perpetuate bias, limit access, or marginalize vulnerable communities. The conference will focus on strategies for promoting equity in technology, from algorithmic transparency to equitable access to resources, ensuring that libraries remain inclusive and responsive to the needs of all patrons.

Through a combination of keynote speeches, panel discussion, demo sessions, and student presentations, we will examine how libraries can be leaders in advancing social justice through technology. Participants will gain valuable insights into fostering digital literacy, combating bias in AI, and creating more inclusive and accessible library services.

Join Wayne State's School of Information Sciences in shaping the future of libraries as inclusive spaces where technology serves the diverse needs of all communities.
