Join us for Professional Development for Emerging Scholars: Physical Activity and the Brain
This seminar will discuss the association between physical activity and depressive symptoms, and areas of the brain related to depression and Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders. The talk will also examine different types of physical activity, as well as physical activity across the life course. Finally, this talk will discuss the importance of publishing non-significant findings and navigating a research career
Speaker: Elisa Torres, PhD, RN Associate Professor, College of Nursing
Bio: Dr. Torres is an Associate Professor in the College of Nursing at Wayne State University. Her research is focused on the effects of physical activity on the brain, specifically depression and dementia. Her current research examines how physical activity earlier in life may decrease the risk of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders later in life.
