Automotive Hall of Fame Achievement Exhibit and Presentation
This event is in the past.
3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Join the Libraries in the Undergraduate Library atrium at 3:30 p.m. on April 15 for a presentation and discussion around the new Automotive Hall of Fame (AHF) exhibit "Achievement.". Recently awarded the 2023 Award for Excellence, this traveling exhibit is a celebration of Black innovation, invention and leadership. To accompany the event, we will also be hosting the Oldsmobile Aerotech in front of the library. Designed by one of the innovators in the exhibit, Ed Welburn, the Aerotech is one of three experimental high-speed vehicles built between 1987 and 1992, created to demonstrate the potential of Oldsmobile's new Quad 4 engine design.
The contributions African Americans have made to the automotive industry have not been celebrated or even fully captured and shared. The AHF recognizes that these are important stories that need to be told. This exhibit is their first effort to join with community in telling these stories. This event is free and open to all but would be particularly interesting to anyone with a love of cars and automotive history.
