The MIOSHA 2-hour initial asbestos awareness training is designed for employees whose work activities may bring them into contact with asbestos-containing materials (ACM) or presumed asbestos-containing materials (PACM) but who will not disturb these materials.

This training aims to provide workers with the knowledge to recognize potential asbestos hazards and understand how to avoid exposure.

Topics to be covered in this training include:

  • What is Asbestos? 
  • Health Hazards of Asbestos
  • Locations of asbestos-containg materials (ACM) and presumed asbestos-containing materials (PACM)
  • Recognizing Damage and Deterioration
  • Importance of Not Disturbing Asbestos
  • Proper Response to Fiber Release Episodes
  • Housekeeping Requirements
  • Relevant OSHA and EPA Regulations
  • Labels and Warning Signs
  • Emergency Procedures
