2025 WSU Juneteenth – From Reflection to Action: The Sankofa Series Presents: “Looking Back with Purpose” – A Juneteenth Keynote Address

As part of Wayne State University’s 2025 Juneteenth programming, this keynote will reflect on the enduring legacies of Black freedom movements, honoring those who came before while inspiring a renewed commitment to justice, scholarship, and self-determination. Dr. Lisa Bratton, Assistant Professor of History at Tuskegee University and a distinguished historian and educator, will offer timely insights rooted in historical truth, cultural memory, and community empowerment.


This keynote, presented as part of From Reflection to Action: The Sankofa Series, sets the tone for a week of remembrance, dialogue, and collective action.
