The Crockett-Lumumba Scholars program is holding a jazz fundraiser on August 16th, 2025 featuring homegrown and highly acclaimed Detroit artists, including bassist, bandleader,and Kresge Eminent Artist, Marion Hayden, Dr. Melba Joyce Boyd, Poet Laureate of the State of Michigan, and trumpet-player, bandleader and composer, Allen Dennard, among others. The event will take place at the Valade Center on the campus of Wayne State University from 6-8pm. Please join us to help support and celebrate our students, program,  jazz music, Black art, and the rich cultural heritage of Detroit.
