Trauma, Grief, and Loss
2 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
The Wayne State University School of Social Work Office of Continuing Education invites child welfare workers, family preservation workers, foster care workers and adoption services to attend one of our specialized child welfare trainings. We are excited to host Wayne State Faculty and Practicum Liaison, Nancy Keller-MacKinnon, LMSW, and Haley K. Scott, LLMSW for this training titled, “Trauma, Grief, and Loss.”
This course provides an overview of key theoretical and practical approaches to grief and loss. Participants will also understand the impact of sudden loss and violent deaths and how to support families during a loss while conducting a thorough investigation. This course will also examine symptoms and types of grief, misconceptions of grief, and explore the various components of trauma, grief, and loss. It will help participants identify how grief can affect an individual in a myriad of ways (emotional, behavioral, cognitive, physical, and spiritual) and explore the importance of a self-care approach.
CONTINUING EDUCATION: Attendees can obtain 3 social work CECH’s upon completion of the training, payment receipt and passing of the post-training quiz. A CECH certificate will be available for download upon completion of the aforementioned items.
COST: Free to all MDHHS workers and MDHHS contracted private agencies; $45 all others.
All attendees must RSVP for this training. Attendees will receive the Zoom link via email upon completion of the RSVP.
