Speaker: Shane A. Perrine, PhD - Associate Professor - Research Educator, Dept. of Psychiatry and Behavioral Neurosciences, Wayne State University School of Medicine

Dr. Perrine's research explores how drugs affect the brain and behavior, with the goal of better understanding and treating substance use and addiction.  He has published widely in these areas and has received national funding to support his research.  

Topic: "Is There a Novel Syndrome Associated with Prenatal Fentanyl Use?  Modeling the Consequences of Fentanyl Use during Pregnancy"

Objectives: 

1.  Define the fentanyl use problem. 

2.  Discuss literature on fentanyl exposure during pregnancy. 

3.  Present the hypotheses and aims of our research. 

4.  Review preliminary findings of our ongoing preclinical studies.
