Public Planetarium Show
This event is in the past.
Join us at the WSU Planetarium for our free Friday night planetarium shows! Seats are all first-come, first-served. There are no reservations available. Doors open 10 minutes prior to show time and there are no late entries permitted. Food and beverages are not allowed in the planetarium.
- First show: 6 p.m.
- Second show: 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy an hour under the stars with one of our outstanding student physics and astronomy presenters. You'll watch a 30-minute fulldome film followed by a live star talk guided by our staff. We recommend these shows for middle schoolers and above.
The Wayne State University planetarium is an indoor facility where we can project a simulation of the night sky onto our 27-foot-wide dome ceiling, to take you to the stars even when it is cloudy outside! We can seat 60 people.
Public planetarium shows are held on most Fridays when the university is in session. First Fridays have priority for WSU students, faculty and staff. Occasionally, we will not hold shows due to off-site astronomy events, so always check the events calendar to confirm our schedule.
The Anthropology Museum and Mineral Museum in Old Main are also open beginning at 5pm most Friday evenings. Enjoy all of our venues while you visit!
