12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Please join Wayne State University's Center for Leadership in Environmental Awareness and Research (CLEAR) and Center for Urban Responses to Environmental Stressors (CURES) for their upcoming virtual seminar on January 29, 2026 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. The seminar is free; registration is required. The Zoom link will be emailed to all registrants prior to the seminar.
The speaker will be Dr. Sheena Martenies, assistant professor, Illinois College of Applied Health Sciences, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She will present " Connecting neighborhood and children’s health."
Abstract: Children, more than adults, are vulnerable to the effects of environmental exposures as they grow. Exposures like air pollution and social stressors, which can be measured in the home, school and neighborhood levels likely have both individual and joint impacts on several children’s health outcomes. In this talk, Dr. Martenies will discuss some of her recent work exploring how she has used spatial data sets and will explore the relationships between environmental exposures across several domains and children’s health and how her recent work has led her to new questions about how we can use this data to guide public health research.
