This event is in the past.
12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The WSU Humanities Center invites faculty, students, staff, and the community to a Brown Bag presentation given by alejandro acierto (Assistant Professor, Digital Arts) entitled, "Towards an Ecological Undercommons".
Abstract: Focused on my recent interdisciplinary body of creative research called “Uninvited Guests”, this talk traces the social, historic, and environmental consequences of urban expansion in the fragile ecosystems of the Sonoran Desert to question notions of land value that have become entangled in critical conversations of environmental degradation and climate catastrophe. Discussing work across a variety of media alongside critical scholarship, this talk will describe and contextualize my methods of creative and scholarly research that draw upon the environmental & desert humanities, Indigenous studies, and critical urbanism studies.
