“I should use data in my classes, but…it’s a lot of work, I’m not an expert, there’s too much else to talk about, data are boring…” These thoughts go through everyone's heads when incorporating something new into their teaching but exposing students to social science data doesn't have to be onerous. This session will provide an overview of the topics and types of data available from ICPSR and give you ideas for including data in class, sometimes without making students touch the data! ICPSR’s search tools, pre-made class assignments, and the volume of data make it easy to match course concepts with real-world examples. We'll also talk about what is and is not acceptable related to using ICPSR data in AI. Come and get some ideas, stump the presenter, and share your own experiences!

Bring your laptop-- this is a hands on event!
