Biological membrane interfaces: mechanotransduction, artificial cytoskeleton, and synthetic organelles

Biological membranes are involved in many cellular processes, including cell migration, membrane trafficking, cell signaling, and organelle communication. A significant amount of work has elucidated the molecular machinery that regulates dynamic membrane-based processes. In parallel, there has been growing interest in recent years in understanding how the mechanical state of cells is used as a regulatory input to control cellular processes. My lab is broadly interested in studying the mechanochemical responses and force generation of biological systems, both in cells and in cell-like systems. In this talk, I will introduce my lab’s research and share three vignettes related to its theme.
