Event Overview

Providing high‑quality, inclusive, and affirming services to LGBTQ+ individuals is essential to ethical and patient‑centered behavioral health practice. This training will introduce participants to the core principles of gender‑affirming care, explore barriers faced by LGBTQ+ communities in integrated health settings, and provide practical tools and modalities to enhance clinical and organizational responsiveness.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify 2–3 local and national resources that support LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing.
  • Define gender‑affirming care within integrated behavioral and medical contexts.
  • Recognize barriers to care affecting specific LGBTQ+ populations and strategies to address them.

Claudia Jean-Pierre is a licensed clinical therapist with 15+ years of experience providing mental health services in integrated primary care and outpatient settings. She utilizes trauma‑informed care and incorporates modalities such as Narrative Therapy, Relational‑Cultural Therapy, CBT, and outdoor experiential approaches.

Claudia has extensive experience supporting LGBTQ+ community members, individuals living with HIV, and clients with complex mental health needs. She also serves as a field liaison and supervisor, helping student interns and non‑traditional learners succeed in academic and professional environments. Her work is grounded in collaboration, practical skill‑building, and culturally responsive care.
