AGSO Transformations Student Research Conference
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Transformations is an engaging annual conference presented by AGSO that brings together students across the social sciences and humanities to present research and exchange ideas. This year’s theme is Beyond Borders: Adaptation and Reclamation in a Polarized World. In a world defined by division, displacement, and rapid change, borders in the physical, cultural, biological, and linguistic realms are constantly being contested and reshaped. We invite participants to consider how adaptation drives survival and transformation, and how acts of reclamation redefine borders to restore space, power, and belonging. Borders often serve as stark lines of separation that produce violence, disappearance, and loss, but they can also become spaces where identities are reclaimed, solidarities are forged, and new possibilities for justice and dignity emerge. How do communities, past and present, endure and resist in uncertain or changing worlds? How can challenging or reimagining boundaries open new possibilities for justice, solidarity, and understanding?
