Guest Speaker: Hua Zhu, Ph.D., Professor, Ohio State University, College of Medicine, Division of Cardiac Surgery
Dr. Hua Zhu is a professor of cardiac surgery. Dr. Zhu investigates the factors that control normal structure and intracellular signaling in cardiac and skeletal muscle physiology and diseases. Specifically, he is interested in whether one can enhance transverse tubular structure and function in treatment of muscular dystrophy; how to fine tune balance among intracellular cell death pathways, such as necroptosis, apoptosis and autophagy for cardiac and skeletal muscle protection; and how to rejuvenate stem cell function to enhance tissue regeneration in the aging process.
