A Conversation with Johanna Russ, Chicago Public Library Archivist
This event is in the past.
Join the Society of American Archivists as we welcome our March guest speaker, Johanna Russ! She will be speaking with us about her professional experiences and her work at the Chicago Public Library. There will be time for a Q&A afterwards. This event is free and open to all Wayne State University students.
Johanna Russ has been the Unit Head of the Special Collections Unit at Chicago Public Library's Harold Washington Library Center since 2021, leading a small team to preserve and share Chicago history. Before that, she worked as an archivist in the same Unit, arranging and describing collections on Chicago history, working especially closely with the Chicago Park District Records. Before CPL, she spent five years at Wayne State University's Walter P. Reuther Library as the archivist for the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) collection. She earned an MSLS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MA in Public History from North Carolina State University, and a BA in English and Classics from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
