Improving Communication Across the LifeSpan: From Cell to Society

by

Kelly Tremblay

Communication Sciences and Disorders, Wayne State University

This presentation explores how age-related cellular changes in hearing and neural processing cascade into communication challenges with broad cognitive and public-health consequences. Drawing on WHO frameworks for healthy aging and integrated person-centered care, it highlights how hearing initiatives, from early detection to accessible technologies, can strengthen cognitive resilience and reduce societal burdens. The talk also examines recent federal regulatory changes that expand access to hearing care and stimulate industry innovation, underscoring the growing need for multisector collaboration to support communication across the lifespan.
