Labor Market Responses to Tariffs: Frictions, Dynamics and Policy Responses
This event is in the past.
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Join the Department of Economics for the Samuel M. Levin Economics Lecture, featuring a timely discussion on labor market responses to tariffs. This talk explores how recent tariff increases shape wages, employment and regional inequality, with a focus on the role of labor-market frictions and slow economic adjustment.
Drawing on recent theoretical and empirical research, the lecture highlights how trade shocks can create concentrated and lasting disruptions for workers and communities. It also examines policy approaches that can help ease these transitions and support more resilient labor markets.
