Mortuary Science Interfaith Memorial Service
This event is in the past.
6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The Wayne State University Mortuary Science program in the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will host its second interfaith memorial service honoring unclaimed decedents from Wayne County.
The interfaith format brings together clergy representing Catholic, Jewish, Muslim and Protestant traditions, offering prayers and rituals from each faith. The ceremony will also include music, a reading of names and a moment of reflection.
Students from the Mortuary Science program will play an active role in planning and directing the service, alongside a representative from the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office who will provide remarks. This hands-on experience allows students to apply classroom knowledge in a meaningful setting while developing professional skills in funeral planning, ceremony coordination and culturally responsive care.
