Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) is a chronic, relapsing brain disease characterized by an impaired ability to control alcohol use despite negative consequences. Key components of AUD education include defining the disorder as a medical condition, explaining its complex pathophysiology on the body, detailing the symptoms of impairment corresponding to Blood Alcohol Content levels, and highlighting life-threatening risks associated with both high blood alcohol and severe AUD.
