Responding with Care: Trauma-Informed Approaches to Sexual Assault Disclosure
3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Session Overview
Social workers across diverse practice settings, from schools and hospitals to community agencies and private practice, may encounter disclosures of sexual assault. The way these disclosures are received can profoundly impact a survivor’s healing journey. This training equips social workers with the tools to respond with empathy, maintain professional boundaries, and integrate trauma-informed practices into their work. Through interactive discussion, case examples, and reflective exercises, participants will explore how cultural humility, intersectionality, and power dynamics shape survivor experiences, while strengthening their own capacity to offer supportive and compassionate responses.
