El Nuevo Comienzo (new beginning) is a celebration of success for graduating students and the families, friends, mentors, teachers and community members that supported them along the journey. It honors the legacies of those who helped pave the way and looks toward the new paths that our graduates will forge.
El Nuevo Comienzo is hosted by the 55-year-old Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) and is open to all undergraduate, graduate and professional school students from WSU.
All participating graduates will receive:
- Embroidered Cambaya graduation stole (locally sourced)
- Complimentary individual and group high-res photos
- Personalized certificate commemorating the day
- Name and degree listed in the souvenir program booklet
- Individualized recognition during the event
- Name, degree, and photo included in print ad in El Central Newspaper
- Up to six (6) seats for guests per graduate
- Courtesy livestream link to share with loved ones
Hosted by the Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies (CLLAS) in partnership with the Office of Multicultural Student Engagement (OMSE), Latinx Faculty and Staff Association (LFSA), Office of Alumni Relations, and Office of Inclusive Excellence.
