From Bench to Approval: Regulatory Thinking for Research Translation

Successful commercialization does not begin at regulatory submission—it begins at project conception. This DORI Lunch & Learn will examine how early-stage research and startup decisions directly influence regulatory pathways, reimbursement strategy, and long-term market viability.

Scott Olson will lead a discussion with regulatory expert Chris Ware of Med Launch to help Wayne State University faculty researchers and startup founders align early-stage development decisions with future regulatory approval requirements. Drawing on Scott’s experience supporting academic research–based startups and Chris’s external industry perspective, the session will offer practical guidance on designing research, validation, and product development strategies that proactively address regulatory expectations and mitigate downstream risk.
