WSU Juneteenth - Centering Stories of Resilience: A Centennial Celebration of Black History

Join Wayne State University for Centering Stories of Resilience: A Centennial Celebration of Black History, a Juneteenth program honoring the legacy of emancipation and the enduring impact of Black history and culture.
The evening will begin with light refreshments. The program will feature a performative history of Juneteenth presented by Associate Dean Billicia Hines and Dr. RAS Mikey Courtney, the release of a genealogy project documentary, and a panel discussion connecting genealogy to Juneteenth and Black history, exploring how lineage shapes identity and community, featuring Dr. Kefentse Chike, Dr. Kafi Kumasi, and Mr. Jamon Jordan.
The program will also include the presentation of the Dr. Marquita Chamblee Community Impact Award, honoring Mr. Darcell Brown, Jr. of the Umoja Debate League, will be a highlight of the evening, followed by a closing reflection.
