On Wednesday, June 24 at noon, Wayne State students, faculty, and staff will again participate in Ruth Ellis Center's "STRIDE for PRIDE" fundraiser by hosting a brief walk from the Center for Gender and Sexuality on the 6th floor of the Student Center to the Elaine L. Jacob Gallery at 480 W. Hancock for refreshments and a viewing of the current exhibition UNDERGROUND – Keith Haring: Subway Drawings. 

The exhibition features 25 subway drawings created by Keith Haring from 1980-1985 in the New York City subway system. The works offer a glimpse of Haring’s graphic style and the development of his own visual language through line, patterns, symbols and semiotics that became iconic and recognizable due to its repetitious nature. The drawings were created to extend the experience and enjoyment of art to the wider public. Haring was inspired by public engagement, proclaiming that “art is for everyone.”

The event is open to all students, faculty, staff, and friends, and there are several ways to get involved if you're interested in helping the Ruth Ellis Center:

• Donate to REC or encourage others to donate. (You don't have to attend the walk to donate.)
• Share this fundraising page with your networks & on your social media.
• Attend the walk and gallery visit. (You don't have to donate or raise donations to attend—Everyone is welcome.)
