Substance Use Awareness
This Substance Abuse Awareness training is designed to help employees and managers understand the impact of substance use in the workplace and how it affects safety, performance, and organizational culture. Participants will learn to recognize the warning signs of substance abuse, including physical, behavioral, and performance indicators, and understand the importance of early identification. The training also covers Department of Transportation (DOT) testing requirements, safety-sensitive roles, and the implications of federal and state marijuana laws, particularly in regulated environments. A key focus is on manager responsibility, including how to document concerns, conduct professional conversations, and follow proper intervention and escalation procedures. This session can be delivered in either a 60-minute overview format or a 90-minute expanded session that includes deeper discussion, examples, and leadership application strategies.
