From Lab to Life: Measuring early caregiving and its role in child development

Early caregiving relationships scaffold emotion regulation and shape the developing brain, yet we still struggle to measure caregiving as it actually unfolds. Dr. Humphreys will describe work spanning randomized foster care intervention, experimental studies of caregiver engagement, and new tools for capturing caregiver–child proximity and responsiveness in everyday environments. Together these approaches point toward more precise, actionable targets for supporting families.
