Discover how teachers can celebrate the knowledge, experiences, languages, and traditions PreK-12 students bring from their homes and communities through journey boxes. Participants will create a mini journey box representing one aspect of their own cultural or linguistic identity and explore ways to incorporate journey boxes into meaningful classroom learning experiences.
You’ll leave with:
- A completed mini journey box that can serve as a classroom model
- Links to children’s literature resources
This Educators Night workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Christina DeNicolo, associate professor of teacher education, and Dr. Kathryn Roberts, professor of reading, language and literature. For more information about Educators Night, visit bit.ly/EducatorsNight2026.
