How can hands-on learning help students better understand different perspectives? In this interactive workshop, participants will engage in spatial activities that highlight the connection between visual perspective-taking and social-emotional learning. Together, we'll examine how shifting perspectives in physical space can create opportunities for students to consider different viewpoints and experiences. Designed for PreK-12 educators, these activities can be adapted across grade levels and learning environments.

You'll leave with:

  • A "spatial-to-social" toolkit of classroom-ready activities
  • Strategies for helping students consider different viewpoints
  • Practical ways to foster empathy and social skills

This Educators Night workshop will be facilitated by Dr. Elizabeth Barton, associate professor of research for educational psychology, counseling psychology, and counselor education. To learn more about Educators Night, visit bit.ly/EducatorsNight2026.
