Join the Michigan School Library Study for a free virtual mini-symposium marking the launch of the Michigan School Census 2026 — a statewide count of every K-12 school library program in Michigan.

The event opens with a keynote from literacy expert Dr. Molly Ness, followed by a panel of Michigan school librarians, district leaders, and administrators who have restored and expanded library services in their buildings. Panelists will share practical strategies and real-world examples — including rebuilding library programs, creative staffing models, and district and ISD partnerships.

The symposium is free and open to school librarians, library media specialists, educators, administrators, and anyone responsible for library services in a Michigan school.

Attendees can also complete the Michigan School Census 2026 live during the event with guidance from the project team. Schools that complete the census during the symposium receive a $25 gift card (one per school building).
