Trauma and stress-related disorders are known to involve a set of brain regions critical for emotion regulation. However, limited work has sought to identify how inequitable exposures to environmental stressors may moderate neurodevelopment of these regions or how such exposures may impact the development of posttraumatic stress. Dr. Harnettt will discuss emerging evidence on how environmental factors can shape brain development with differing impacts by groups, which can in turn affect the development of trauma and stress-related disorders.
